Digital Mist update

I've just tweaked the Kindle version of Scotch Mist a little to include the rewriting of the first two chapters which I did a couple of years ago.  Basically, I always felt the opening wasn't up to scratch - it didn't really set the tone for the rest of the story - and although most readers won't notice the very subtle changes I made, I still wanted it to be the best I could make it.  It should be available on the amazon site by Sunday.  Feel much happier about it now its been sorted!!

Busy week...!

SUNDAY:  Just checked: it's there and ready to be read!!!

Advent approaches...

and as the world goes into Christmas hyper-drive, Hamish and I just can't get worked up about it.  I've got too much work on to even start thinking about Christmas and Hamish... well, let's just say I've put him in rather an awkward situation in this year's Christmas story and really he's already got enough on his plate trying to deal with that, with the inevitable 'Secret Santa' issues, the perennial 'What do I buy for Marmalade?' problem and the inevitable cranberry scones thrown in for good measure.

Yes: I am writing it.  No, I haven't really got the time (redecorating kitchen so entire contents scattered from one end of the house to the other, a mountain of marking and planning threatening to engulf me and a university course I should be devoting much more time to!) but when has that ever stopped me?  However, if the TUC decide to cancel strike action on Wednesday next, it may well be necessary to postpone Christmas
till January - I'm banking on that day to finish the story and lulu it!  Hoping it will make it to Kindle this year as well... watch this space.  (Only, not too intently!) ( Oh, and Marks and Spencer Key Lime Pie : has to be tasted to be believed!!)

It could be worse of course: this time last year we had SNOOOOOOW!

Reindeer time!

It's that time of the year again. And even if Starbucks are not going to indulge my needs at this festive time of the year, the other good thing about Christmas is the reindeer.

I love reindeer. Not the cartoony red-nosed variety (think the others let Rudolph off lightly, to be honest - he is unsufferably smug!) but the real ones! This chap was waiting to pull Santa's sleigh through my town on Sunday, just having a chomp on some lunch as he waited in the (quite frankly depressing!) rain.

We discovered a couple of years ago where they go for their r&r before the parade begins and it does mean you get a chance to see them 'up close and personal' before the crowds claim them! And I got better photos this year with a proper camera.

We've had a bit of snow here today, although it didn't stay, and it is FREEZING, so I suppose that's the official winter start. Of course it also means my heating has packed in - it doesn't do cold weather! I've done nothing about Christmas yet, (although I did buy some cards in London a couple of weeks ago - with reindeer on!).

HOWEVER I have made a start on the NEW Grouse and Partridge Christmas Tale which will be available to download on December 17th. After struggling with 'Harry', it's been lovely to get back to the old team. So far there's no reindeer in it... but there's still time!!

A new home!

After blogging away merrily on http://www.lulu.com/joannaduncan for so many months, Grouse and Partridge were most distraught to discover that lulu had withdrawn its blogspot 'due to lack of interest'!! LACK OF INTEREST?? Not only that, all my cake recommendations of the last two years disappeared as well.
Now, I know no one ever read the blog (except you, SMF, and possibly even you, Colin!) but that's not the point!
I've got used to being able to randomly outpour the angst of self-publishing and the problems of juggling writing a novel with a full time job! And I was really rather pleased with my last posting! So, I've taken the plunge and here we are on Google! I'm not sure how it's going to work out - or even what we're going to look like yet - but please come back and keep up to date with the G&P chronicles as they happen! For now, I think I need cake...!
